Alzheimer’s Awareness Month: Week 3 Tips of the Month

Assisted Living & Memory Care in Canton GA
Alzheimer’s Awareness Month: Week 3 Tips of the Month - Canton, GA

As we shared with you last week, here at Manor Lake Assisted Living and Memory Care in Canton, GA, we’re continuing our pledge to double down on raising awareness and encouraging early recognition of Alzheimer’s symptoms. June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, a time to highlight how we can all take better care of our cognitive health—today and in the years ahead.

No matter your age, there are simple, powerful steps you can take to protect your brain. Picking up where we left off last week, here are five more tips for boosting brain power and promoting long-term mental wellness:

6. Protect Your Head
Traumatic brain injuries can increase the risk of cognitive decline and dementia. Always wear a helmet during activities like biking or contact sports.

Prevention matters—protecting your head today safeguards your brain tomorrow.

7. Improve Your Heart Health
Chronic conditions like high blood pressure, obesity, and diabetes can negatively affect your brain. What’s good for your heart is good for your brain!

A healthy circulatory system fuels both the heart and mind.

8. Challenge Your Mind
Keep your brain sharp by solving puzzles, learning a new skill, or playing strategy games.

Mental stimulation strengthens neural pathways and enhances cognitive function.

9. Stay Socially Engaged
Isolation can lead to cognitive decline. Stay connected with family, friends, or your community.

Meaningful interactions stimulate the brain and improve emotional health.

10. Exercise Regularly
Regular aerobic and strength-training exercises improve circulation and may reduce the risk of dementia.

A strong body supports a strong mind—movement matters!

At Manor Lake BridgeMill, we are privileged to serve those with memory care needs by providing a supportive, enriching, and loving environment. Sharing tips like these is part of our mission to help every individual—not just our residents—live with better brain health and a higher quality of life.

Stay tuned for Week 4 as we continue to share ways to protect your brain and care for those affected by Alzheimer’s.
